Jam Chart for shows in the city of Darien Center, NY (22 entries)

Date Song City Timing Notes
1993-08-07 Llama Darien Center, NY 5:09 Some unusual and improvisational jamming during Trey's section. Mike and Fish are great responding to Trey here.
1993-08-07 Stash Darien Center, NY 12:24 Breaks into an unusually upbeat groove that gradually grows dissonant. Makes a brief return to "Stash" proper before settling, unfinished, with a -> to "Makisupa."
1993-08-07 Mike's Darien Center, NY 9:52 Of all the improvisational but slightly off kilter '93 versions, this one may take the cake. The solid 1st jam includes a "2001" tease. The 2nd is all over the map - rhythmic, dissonant exploration, a semi-return to "Mike's," quieter musing with a "New York, New York" tease, an Irish jig of sorts, a "Kung" sandwich with signals, and finally a crazed return to "Mike's" to complete an exercise in improvisational abstraction.
1993-08-07 Kung Darien Center, NY 3:11 -> in from "Mike's Song." A signal infused version of "Kung" is sandwiched in the middle of a crazy but improvisational "Mike's."
1993-08-07 Mike's Darien Center, NY 1:51 -> in from "Kung" to complete one of the more bizarre but improvisational versions of "Mike's."
1993-08-07 My Friend Darien Center, NY 7:03 A good, jazzy outro jam is tacked on which > to "McGrupp." Released on Live Bait Vol. 4.
1993-08-07 McGrupp Darien Center, NY 10:30 This classic version features a long, fantastic Page solo with solid backing from the others. As it continues, the energized nature of the playing increases, and Mike is noticeably strong before Fish fires off the Gatling guns to signal the closing section. Released on Live Bait 4.
1993-08-07 Antelope Darien Center, NY 10:22 Power jamming plus typical August '93 all-over-the-map improvisation. Very intense with insane tension.
1997-08-14 Antelope Darien Center, NY 13:31 Gets beyond "Antelope" at several points, including brief major mode action (5:40 - 6:30), rhythmic variation, a brief settle, and good tension building before mounting a serious and dissonant peak.
1997-08-14 Jam Darien Center, NY 8:52 -> in from "Hood." An ambient jam starts as "Harry" ends, morphing into an exploratory funk-based one. > to "Forbin."
2000-09-14 Reba Darien Center, NY 13:27 Trey breaks from a subdued, melodic groove, to enter a space within which dramatic sustain, coupled with a warped, almost melancholic tone, creates something like a sad, mournful, mood. A strange version, both powerful and restrained.
2000-09-14 Carini Darien Center, NY 10:21 Liquid metallic space rage.
2000-09-14 Suzy Darien Center, NY 9:19 The band breaks into a fantastic rhythmic and slightly funky jam after the second verse which continues until 8:00. Following the final verse and customary conclusion, the band continues on, > to "Jam," an awesome "Suzy"-like set closing improv session.
2000-09-14 Jam Darien Center, NY 11:33 Although the jam travels within a narrow band musically, there are a lot of subtleties that make this one a real standout. Fish is awesome!
2000-09-14 Drowned Darien Center, NY 31:19 Phenomenal masterpiece of improvisation that is largely Page, Mike and Fish directed. One of the more challenging jams to appreciate, it may take several listens to fully sink in. But it's well worth the effort to get your arms and head around this magnum opus that transitions (>) to "Crosseyed And Painless."
2000-09-14 C&P Darien Center, NY 11:54 Quite the treat considering it is smoothly segued into out of a 30 minute "Drowned!" This is a nice spacier exploration of "Crosseyed." Nice interplay from all band members.
2000-09-14 Caspian Darien Center, NY 11:34 Trey adds effects to his sound which enhance the swirly quality, contrasted with Page who is very grounded on the piano. Mike and Fish keep it cranked up. > to "Loving Cup."
2000-09-14 Loving Cup Darien Center, NY 9:36 Incredible show of force! Bonus outro-jam taboot!
2009-08-13 Drowned Darien Center, NY 17:07 Backed by an unbridled pulse from Mike and Fish, there's quite a bit of improvisation in this jam. Perhaps lacking the melodic grandeur of the "Sally" from the previous week, this is a quality exploration nonetheless.
2011-06-08 Weekapaug Darien Center, NY 8:34 "Golden Age" teases are followed by a nice funky breakdown jam with great Page and Mike. At the end, Trey sustains a note which carries into "What's The Use."
2011-06-08 2001 Darien Center, NY 8:45 "Golden Age," "Happy Birthday," and "WTU?" teases worked in perfectly, along with a serious syncopated throwdown, make this one a must hear. Play this to impress others.
2011-06-08 Hood Darien Center, NY 11:13 A very solid jam, building from start to end, and thus in good company with 5/6/90, 11/30/95, 2/18/97, 8/8/98, and 11/27/09.
